Spring's First Breath

I'm posting this because it's so cold outside.

Spring's First Breath

The woods' first spring breath

Ambles up my hill, clean and dry,

While a few birds bark their praise,

And a fox leaps toward the ridge.

My feline friends rest under the sun

Against a near windless afternoon;

My bare oaks silhouette a milky blue veil,

And far away highway sounds stray to my mind.

I remember dreams of tomorrow,

And why I love this place so very much.

Two birds far apart sing different songs to each other,

And then when it becomes music,

Silence pours over the hillsides.

Most of all, it is peace that fills me here

And the sunshine warms my face.
